Dinner for Two: Restaurant of the Year 2017 – Morsels
Experimental Creative Omakase at Morsels:
In April 2017, Morsels took the limelight at the World Gourmet Summit’s 2017 when it was awarded the prestigious “Restaurant of the Year” award and its chef, Petrina Loh the “World Gourmet Summit Chef’s Choice (Western) 2017”
Surrounded yet almost hidden by the lush greenery of iconic dining destination, Dempsey Hill, Morsels makes her new home rustic barnyard-style. It serves wildly creative fusion dishes which are ingredient-driven, paired with specially curated list of wines, sake, craft beers and house-infused cocktails.
The 1000-square-foot rustic barnyard-style house is a labor of love by chef-owner Petrina Loh. Engaging her green thumb and love of social company, the 40-seater restaurant is almost instantly inviting and cozy employing a simple color palette, natural materials and personal accents that set the overall relaxing ambiance.
“Omakase” is a Japanese phrase that means I’ll leave it up to you. The expression is used by patrons at sushi restaurants to leave the selection to the chef.
Chef Petrina’s experimental fusion cuisine defies boundaries and ignores attempts at pigeonholing, so to speak. She shares, “I like to work with a variety of ingredients, teasing their natural flavors to release into the mouth a trained frenzy of sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami, tempering the temperature and texture, all on one plate.”
Menu:The Omakase Menu at Morsels will be a sharing menu put together by the team to showcase various dishes from each section of the menu and seasonal dishes. Diners can expect a 8-course sharing plates with 2 glasses of bubbly, white or red wine as welcome drink.
